Our school's Pik Shan Volunteer Team has been awarded the 'JC Volunteer Together – Volunteer Promotion Campus Partnership Program' – the 'Outstanding Service Planning Award' and the 'Active Participation in Campus Award'

Pik Shan Volunteer Team: Dedicated to Service and Caring Actions This year, our school participated in the "JC Volunteer Together – Volunteer Promotion Campus Partnership Program," organized by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charitable Trust, promoting volunteer culture alongside 261 schools across Hong Kong. We are proud to be certified as a "Happy Campus." Among all participating schools, we were awarded the "Active Participation in Campus Award," a distinction earned by only 12 secondary schools in the region, showcasing the enthusiasm and commitment of our students. 

In the 2024/25 academic year, the Pik Shan Volunteer Team achieved remarkable results—successfully standing out among many schools to reach the top nine in the Hong Kong finals. In the speech competition, our team received questions and evaluations from judges and ultimately earned the "Outstanding Service Planning Award – Merit Award." This accolade is a testament to our students' hard work, creativity, and sense of responsibility.

 

Connecting Hearts Through Tactile Design: Guiding with Care Our entry, "Tactile Design," stems from the students' heartfelt concern for individuals with visual impairments. The volunteer team engaged in hands-on experiences, interviews, and observations to understand the current inadequacies of indoor navigation facilities in Hong Kong for visually impaired people. Particularly, finding the correct room without Braille remains a significant challenge. 

In response, students utilized a "Human Library" approach to gain insights into the real difficulties faced by visually impaired individuals. This led to the creation of simple, practical tactile signs that do not rely on Braille, which were affixed to indoor walls to assist them in locating their destination rooms more easily. This design is not just a thoughtful gesture; it serves as a bridge connecting understanding and respect.
