Sha Tin District Primary School Paper Crafting Experience Day
Date: 23/01/2026
To promote Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) education, our school co-organized the "Sha Tin District Primary School Paper Crafting Experience Day" in partnership with the Education Alumni Association of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. This special event invited primary school students to discover the unique charm of traditional Chinese paper crafting.
During the event, participants gained insights into the history of paper crafting through an educational seminar before joining a hands-on "Hexagonal Lantern Workshop." Students had the meaningful opportunity to hang their completed lanterns onto the city's largest traditional floral tribute (Fa Pau), symbolizing the passing on of light and blessings. The day featured a vibrant array of ICH-themed booths, including Rainbow Calligraphy, Song Brocade Pearl Wind Chime crafting, Hong Kong-style Egg Tart making, Indigo Dyeing, and Cantonese Opera showcases.
The young participants were fully engaged throughout the day, displaying immense focus during the creative process and radiant pride when showcasing their finished works. Their enthusiasm truly demonstrated the vitality and continuity of traditional craftsmanship in the hands of the new generation.
